What this signature is, and what it is not
This tool places a drawn, visual signature on a PDF. You draw your name with a mouse, trackpad, or finger on a small canvas, and the drawing is stamped onto the page as an image. It looks like a handwritten signature on the document, and that is all it does.
It is not a certified digital signature. A digital signature in the formal sense uses a certificate issued to you, cryptographically binds your identity to the exact contents of the file, and lets software detect later changes. This tool does none of that. The result is a picture on a page, and it carries no identity check, no timestamp, and no tamper detection.
When a drawn signature is appropriate
A visual signature is often enough for informal paperwork: a permission slip, an internal approval, a simple acknowledgment, or a form where the other party only wants to see your handwritten name on the page. It saves the printing, signing, and scanning steps.
It is not the right choice when a law, a contract, a government office, or an employer requires a qualified or certified electronic signature, or a verifiable audit trail. Requirements differ by country and by document type, so check what the recipient actually accepts before relying on a drawn signature. If you are unsure, ask them.
Combine it with other finishing steps if needed. For example, Merge PDF can assemble the signed pages with attachments, and Add Watermark to PDF can mark a copy as a draft.
How to sign a PDF with this tool
- Drag a PDF onto the upload area, or click it to choose a file.
- The tool opens the last page by default and shows a preview. Change the Page to sign number if you want a different page. The preview updates.
- Draw your signature in the white box on the right. Press and drag with a mouse, or use your finger on a touch screen.
- Use Clear to wipe the box and start again.
- Click Sign PDF. A Download button appears.
- Click Download to save signed.pdf.
The signature is always stamped in the bottom-right corner of the chosen page, about 40 points in from the right and bottom edges, at a size of 160 by 60 points. Everything runs in your browser and your file is not uploaded.
Practical tips and limits
You cannot drag the signature to a custom position or resize it, so check the preview of the page first to make sure the bottom-right corner is clear. If that spot is covered by a footer or a signature line elsewhere, this tool will not line up with it.
Only one signature is placed per run, on a single page. To sign several pages, download the result, load it again, and sign the next page. The signature box is small, so draw slowly and use most of the width. If you draw nothing, the tool still stamps an empty, transparent image, which leaves no visible mark.
The tool does not remove your signature drawing after use, and it does not store it, but anyone who receives the PDF can copy the image. Keep that in mind and avoid signing documents you do not intend to be bound by. The PDF should not be password-protected, or the tool may fail to open it.
