Word to PDF

Renders the document's text, headings, lists and basic tables into a PDF. The result is an image-based, single continuous page, so text can't be selected and complex layouts won't match Word exactly.

Guide

What a text-focused Word to PDF conversion means

A Word file stores content and layout instructions together: paragraphs, heading styles, lists, tables, images, page margins, headers and so on. A faithful conversion needs a full layout engine that reproduces all of that exactly. This tool takes a lighter approach.

It reads your .docx, pulls out the text and its basic structure (headings, paragraphs, bold and italic, lists), shows you a preview, and then turns that content into a PDF. It is a content conversion, not a replica of how the page looked in Word.

When this lighter conversion is enough

It works well for straightforward documents: a letter, a short report, notes, a draft or a plain write-up where the words matter more than the exact page design. If you just need something in PDF form to send quickly and you do not have Word open, it saves time.

It is the wrong choice for a polished, formatted deliverable such as a branded proposal, a CV with a careful layout, or anything with complex tables, headers and footers or exact page breaks. For those, exporting to PDF from the application where the document was written will be more faithful.

If your content is already plain text, Text to PDF may be simpler still.

How to convert a Word document to PDF here

  1. Drag a .docx file onto the upload area, or click to choose one. Only .docx is accepted, not the older .doc format.
  2. The tool reads the document and shows a scrollable preview of the extracted content.
  3. Check the preview. What you see there is what will be turned into the PDF.
  4. Press Download PDF. The file keeps your original name with a .pdf extension.
  5. Use Start over to convert a different file.

The conversion runs in your browser, and the document is not uploaded.

What is and is not preserved

Preserved: the text itself, headings, paragraphs and basic formatting such as bold and italics, as far as the preview shows them.

Not reliably preserved: exact page layout, page breaks, headers and footers, and complex tables. The tool itself warns that exporting directly from Word or a similar editor is more faithful for those.

One more thing to know about how the PDF is built: the content is drawn onto a canvas and placed into the PDF as a single image sized to fit it. In practice, that means the output is one continuous page rather than separate A4 or Letter pages, and the text in it is part of the image rather than selectable text. Read your preview carefully before downloading, and keep the original .docx as your editable master.

Frequently asked questions

Will my formatting look exactly like it does in Word?

No. Text, headings and basic styling carry over, but page layout, headers, footers and complex tables may not. Check the preview first.

Can I convert an old .doc file?

The tool accepts .docx files only. Open an older .doc file in your word processor and save it as .docx first.

Can I select or search the text in the resulting PDF?

Not reliably. The content is rendered as an image inside the PDF, so the text is not selectable. If you need searchable text, export from your word processor instead.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Reading and converting both happen in your browser on your own device.
